Advice from a 40 year old ( Memories self -reflection for my 40th birthday 05/23/ 2022)🎂

Updated: Oct 6, 2023

1.Find yourself a good person to be in a relationship with. Looks will fade but that personality will be there forever. Finding a healthy relationship is so important and no one really talks about it or just tells you to focus on your career. Having someone in your corner that always has your back will make life that much easier.

2.It's never too late to start again.

3.There will be several versions of You as you walk your path, but one version that kind of colors all the other versions. This version you could call "the real you." It pays to spend time figuring out who that real you is.

4.Watch your weight, your blood pressure, and do not smoke. Practice wellness ,self-care and self-love.

5. Comparison will rob you of joy. Be happy for others, but don’t feel you need to be like them.

6. Let go of the little things. Stress will kill you.

7. Chase your dreams! Life goes by SO fast. You don’t want to be 80 yrs old and regretting not traveling, pursuing your passion, etc

8. You cannot change someone. Whether a friend or a partner, their faults will not “get better” and you cannot rescue them. Don’t waste your life on toxic people.

9. Make a point of performing kind acts for others. It will greatly enrich your life.

10.Time is money

11.Don't marry out of fear of being alone.

12.Prioritize your mental health. It's ok to say No.

13.Love yourself first.

14.Don't attach your happiness to anyone 🙂. Happiness is a state of mind it should come from within.

15.Hard work pays off.Find your purpose /passion and pursue it.

16.Surround yourself with good friends that will inspire and uplift you.

17.If nobody inspires you in your circle then you don't have a circle you have a cage.

18.Do not be afraid to take risks

19.Find people that are good for your mental health.

20.“Through self-discipline comes freedom.” “True freedom is impossible without a mind made free by discipline.” “The foundation of a strong self comes from small acts of daily discipline.” “Self-discipline begins with the mastery of your thoughts.

21.Success is measured by your discipline and inner peace. Talent is nothing without dedication and discipline, and dedication and discipline is a talent in itself. With faith, discipline and selfless devotion to duty, there is nothing worthwhile that you cannot achieve.

22.I will never forget the advice from our principal at Mtshabezi high school he taught us the 4d's of success formula. The Four D's of Success

- Desire - the hunger for success.

Dedication - the unwavering focus to follow your dream.

- Determination - your resolve to stay the course.

Discipline - your ability to avoid distraction.

23.The two variables in the success equation are goals + habits.

Improved performance.

24.Consistency is the key to success. Consistency is the critical driver for success. Being consistent means dedicating yourself to your goals and staying focused on the things and activities to achieve them. However, it requires a long-term commitment and involves sustained effort in doing actions repeatedly until you achieve your target.

25.Always practice gratitude 🥹 🙏. There is power of 3Gs - Grit, Grace, Gratitude .

26.Happiness is not the goal of life, living a life of truth is.

27.Turning 40 is a time of reflection to take stock of who you are at this time in your life, which include the values, friendships, jobs, relationships, and thoughts you hold dear.

28.Life is a book and I've heard that your forties are the chapters when it all starts making sense.

29.Ninety-nine percent of the failures come from people who have the habit of making excuses.

30.Our habits shape our future by influencing our actions, thoughts, and beliefs. They determine the direction of our lives and the outcomes we achieve. For example, if you have a habit of exercising every day, you will be more likely to stay fit and healthy in the long run.

Finally apply the Three Simple Rules in Life

If you do not GO AFTER what you want, you'll never have it.

If you do not ASK, the answer will always be NO.

If you do not break out of your COMFORT ZONE you'll always be stuck in the same place.

Put God first in everything you do.Prayer changes everything 🙏

Remember God can rewrite your story !

Every Test, trial or storm you go through ,will lead to a Testimony. Decree and declare Jeremiah 29:11 and Psalm 23:1.God is a Faithful God he never fails his children.

Now... go get your life!!!
